-3005 Aluminum Coil-

In the application system of aluminum-manganese rust-proof alloys, no single grade is suitable for all scenarios. From the general-purpose 3003 aluminum to the form-optimized 3105 aluminum, and then to the medium-to-high strength 3005 aluminum, different element ratios correspond to differentiated balances in strength, plasticity, and corrosion resistance, and also meet the engineering requirements of different load levels and working conditions. Among them, 3005 aluminum coil, with its triple characteristics of "upgraded strength, undiminished rust prevention, and controllable forming," fills the selection gap between ordinary 3000 series rust-proof aluminum and high-strength 5000 series aluminum-magnesium alloys, becoming the preferred base material for medium-to-high load-bearing building envelopes and outdoor decorative components worldwide. BCM Aluminum's standardized mass-produced 3005 aluminum coils in all states, with precise alloy control and stable rolling precision, are suitable for various high-requirement engineering and deep-processing scenarios.

3005 aluminum coil

From an alloy perspective, 3005 aluminum coils belongs to the aluminum-manganese-magnesium (AMA) rust-resistant alloy family. It incorporates 0.2%–0.6% magnesium into a standard 3000 series manganese base for solid solution strengthening, retaining the excellent corrosion resistance and passivation capabilities of AMA while significantly enhancing the structural strength. According to ASTM B209 standards, in the most commonly used H14 temper, the tensile strength is consistently 155–205 MPa, and the yield strength is ≥135 MPa, approximately 15% higher than 3003 in the same condition; elongation remains at ≥7%, without a significant loss of plasticity despite the increased strength. In the H24 temper, controlled low-temperature annealing releases rolling stress, increasing elongation to ≥10% and reducing springback by over 20%, making it suitable for high-precision roll forming and repeated bending scenarios. The O soft temper has an elongation of ≥22%, capable of deep stamping and complex surface forming. This clear performance gradient allows 3005 aluminum to be flexibly matched to the stress requirements of components, balancing structural safety and processing feasibility.

The core advantage of 3005 aluminum coil in terms of scene adaptability lies in its triangular balance of corrosion resistance, formability, and strength. In terms of corrosion resistance, it retains the natural self-healing ability of 3000 series aluminum alloys, with a uniformly distributed dispersed phase formed by manganese. It can withstand over 700 hours of neutral salt spray testing. Its resistance to atmospheric corrosion and rain erosion is on par with 3003 aluminum coil, far superior to ordinary structural aluminum materials. It exhibits stable performance whether used outdoors bare or as a coating substrate. In terms of forming and processing, the material has a uniform grain structure, precise cold-rolled sheet shape control, and a sheet flatness ≤1.5mm/m. After continuous roll forming, it achieves high dimensional accuracy without wavy or warped defects, making it suitable for high-speed automated production lines. In terms of coating compatibility, the sheet surface is clean and free of residual oil and roller marks. Adhesion to various coatings such as polyester, high-weather-resistant polyester, and fluorocarbon all achieve a grade 0 standard. T-bending performance is ≤2T, and there is no paint peeling or flaking after bending, making it an excellent substrate for pre-coated building panels.

BCM 3005 aluminum coils are available in standard thicknesses ranging from 0.4mm to 2.0mm, with widths customizable from 50mm to 1600mm. Thickness tolerances are consistently controlled within ±0.02mm, and mechanical property fluctuations within the same batch are ≤10MPa, ensuring consistency in mass production. Its core applications are concentrated in medium-to-high load-bearing outdoor scenarios: large-span metal roofing systems can leverage higher yield strength to enhance wind uplift and snow pressure resistance, reducing purlin usage; building exterior louvers, sunshade components, and industrial roller shutters maintain their shape and prevent collapse even after long-term opening and closing; industrial plant cladding panels combine weather resistance and structural rigidity, extending service life by more than 20% compared to ordinary 3003 aluminum coils. It is also commonly used in outdoor cabinets, decorative panels, and other applications requiring both strength and weather resistance.

As a performance upgrade of the 3000 series rust-resistant aluminum, the 3005 aluminum coil is positioned as a high-performance, cost-effective choice for outdoor medium-to-high load-bearing scenarios, offering improved strength without significantly increasing costs and enhanced stiffness without sacrificing formability. BCM Aluminum will continue to provide global customers with stable and highly adaptable 3005 series aluminum coil products through meticulous alloy management and end-to-end quality control.
