-Precision-Slit Aluminum Strips-

Precision-slit aluminum strips are narrow-width aluminum materials processed from larger coils using high-precision slitting machinery. Key quality indicators—width accuracy, edge burr height, and strip straightness—directly influence the yield rates and production efficiency of downstream processes such as stamping, winding, and welding. Equipped with imported CNC slitting lines, BCM Aluminum provides customized, precision-slitted aluminium strips across a wide range of alloys and tempers, serving clients globally in the power, new energy, electronics, and hardware manufacturing sectors.

precision-slit aluminum strips

BCM categorizes its precision-slit aluminum strips into two accuracy grades to meet diverse downstream requirements:

- Standard Precision Grade:

Width tolerance is controlled within ±0.1mm; for thicknesses of 1.0mm or less, edge burr height is ≤0.03mm, and lateral curvature (camber) is ≤0.5mm/m. This grade is suitable for general hardware stamping, heat sinks, and architectural decoration.

- High-Precision Grade:

Width tolerance reaches ±0.05mm; edge burr height is ≤0.02mm, and lateral curvature (camber) is ≤0.3mm/m. This grade is designed for high-speed automated production lines, such as those used for transformer windings and flexible battery connectors.

Throughout the production process, we employ a constant-tension control system—maintaining tension fluctuations within ≤5%—to prevent width inconsistencies and strip deformation. The clearance between the circular slitting blades is precisely calibrated based on the alloy grade and material thickness, ensuring perpendicular edges free from "wavy" distortions or continuous burrs. Dimensional accuracy complies with ASTM B209 and ISO 6361-3 standards. Each batch undergoes rigorous post-slitting inspection—including width verification via micrometer, edge burr assessment, and flatness/straightness measurement—with all data recorded to ensure full traceability.

BCM's precision-slit aluminum strips encompass four major alloy systems. 1060 pure aluminum offers an electrical conductivity of ≥61% IACS and excellent thermal conductivity, making it ideal for transformer windings, electronic shielding, and heat dissipation components. 3003 aluminum-manganese alloy provides superior atmospheric corrosion resistance and excellent formability, suitable for stamped hardware, flexible battery connectors, and heat-dissipation strips. 5052 aluminum-magnesium alloy offers higher strength and exceptional resistance to salt-spray corrosion, making it well-suited for outdoor structural components and equipment used in coastal environments. 6061 aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy is heat-treatable for enhanced strength, catering to high-strength structural stamped parts.

Available tempers span the full range—including O, H12, H14, H18, and H24—to accommodate various forming processes such as bending, stamping, and winding. Standard slitting capabilities cover thicknesses from 0.15 mm to 3.0 mm and widths from 3 mm to 1500 mm (with a minimum width of 3 mm). Coil inner diameters are available in 300 mm and 508 mm, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of downstream uncoiling equipment. With a maximum coil weight of up to 3 tons, these products help reduce the frequency of coil changes on downstream production lines, thereby boosting continuous manufacturing efficiency.

Application Scenarios and Case Studies

Transformer windings represent a core application for these high-precision aluminum strips. A manufacturer of power distribution equipment in East China utilized 0.3mm-thick 1060-O temper aluminum strips, slit to a width of 20mm with high-precision tolerances. When used for winding dry-type transformer coils, the strips aligned neatly with uniform inter-layer insulation. This improved the first-pass yield to 99.2% and eliminated the risk of corona discharge caused by burrs.

In the field of flexible connectors for new energy batteries, a supplier to the power battery industry adopted 0.5mm-thick 3003-H24 aluminum strips, slit to a width of 12mm with burrs kept to ≤0.02mm. This increased the yield of high-speed continuous stamping from 92% to 98.7% and reduced the frequency of production stoppages for die maintenance by 40%. Industry experience shows that standard slit materials—often plagued by significant width deviations and excessive burrs—frequently lead to strip breakage or folded edges during stamping. The total cost of rework far outweighs any savings from lower-priced, lower-quality materials; the true value of precision slitting lies in consistent, batch-to-batch reliability.

Furthermore, precision-slit aluminum strips are widely used in applications such as electronic shielding covers, LED heat-dissipation strips, blades for packaging/sealing machines, and sealing strips for doors and windows.

BCM maintains a standing inventory of 3,000 tons of aluminum coil base stock, enabling us to slit and deliver mainstream alloys and thicknesses within three days. We support both small-batch sampling and large-scale mass production, with value-added processing services including edge chamfering, surface lamination, and cut-to-length leveling. We accommodate international trade terms such as FOB and CIF; our export packaging—consisting of moisture-proof paper, stretch wrap, and solid wood pallets—is designed to withstand the rigors of global ocean and land transport.
